Tech Lead

We built Question Jam to help educators and facilitators create a world where people are curious together.

Since we beta-launched the question-driven edtech-tool 10 months ago, pioneering educators from across the globe have used Question Jam to unleash their students' curiosity, and we are now ready to take the next step.

We are looking for an energetic person who wants to take on a core role in bringing Question Jam to the world. This is a part-time position in a small fully virtual non-profit organization.

This is a great opportunity for a developer who wants to be part of building something meaningful with users across the globe - you can combine it with another job, or with your studies.

Main responsibilities

  • Own all technical aspects of Question Jam - the product is currently in beta. You will be bringing the product to v.1, and beyond.

  • Lead future tech direction - we are exploring whether Question Jam should be open source, and would love to discuss this with you.

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to maintain and extend a full stack modern web application

  • Pragmatic hands-on independent type with positive energy

  • Passion for the Question Collective mission of enabling more people to exchange questions with each other

What we offer:

  • Live product with wonderful users across the globe

  • Mission-driven, collaborative, and action-oriented culture

  • Influence on the future direction of Question Jam

  • Opportunity to build your developer track-record and resume

  • Fully remote - work from anywhere in the world

The Question Jam stack and services:

  • React web-app

  • GraphQL API (on Node.js)

  • PostgreSQL

  • OVH - EU-based cloud

  • Elastic Email - email delivery

  • ChargeBee - user and subscription management

We run Question Jam as a side gig - which means that you will not have colleagues in the traditional sense. Instead you will have collaborators - currently two based in Copenhagen, Denmark, hopefully more soon - who are also driven by creating a world where people are curious together.

Our collaboration stack:

  • Slack - team communication

  • Google workspace - email and documents

  • Notion - shared planning and task tracking

  • Squarespace - website and newsletters

We imagine you may be an employed developer with more bandwith who is looking for a meaningful side-gig. Or a student looking for more real world experience and concrete results to demonstrate your tech skills. In short, if the description above sounds exciting to you, and you have something to contribute, then please reach out.
